A town with no traffic lights, no billboards, but with an unique architecture and nature. A „silver town“. The biggest mining centre in the Habsburg Monarchy in the 18th century. The seat of Banská akadémia (Mining Academy) opened in 1762, the first university of its kind in the world . A flourishing and hidden harbour of science, education, knowledge, technical inventions, innovation, alchemy and freemasons.

Banská Štiavnica (UNESCO). Located in the heart of Slovakia. At the foot of „gateway to hell“ and the Slovak Chinese wall.

Also a romantic place where a popular Slovak poet of the 18th century, Andrej Sládkovič, lost his heart and fell in love with Marína, a Slovak poetical femme fatale.

1. day: Calvary in Banská Štiavnica, two castles, the so-called "old" one (Starý zámok) and "new" one (Nový zámok), Betlehem of Banská Štiavnica and the open air mining museum (mine Bartolomej), a 1.5-kilometre long underground excursion in mines dated to the 17th century with helmets, cloaks and lamps

2. day: Hiking to the Sitno mountain, the most mysterious mountain in Slovakia with the the legend about knights hidden at its heart ready to intervene when people of Slovakia need them most, the Sitno castle, beer tasting in the Erb brewery

3. day: Returning to Bratislava
